Eight of them side by side, with two outliers. The line of eight contains five embedded lines of four.
that's different that what I have in mind, but seems perfectly correct! there's at least one other way...
You draw a pentagram on the ground. Then you plant a tree at all 5 points of the pentagram, and then plant a tree at all 5 places where lines cross in the pentagram.
Each of the 5 lines of the pentagram will contain 4 trees.
OK then, smartie, how about in a cross, six and five in each line?
